This case study highlights the rapid and efficient migration of over 500 Chemist Warehouse stores to the DDBook Cloud platform. Faced with the challenge of a large-scale deployment within a tight timeframe, the Support and Customer Success teams developed an innovative asynchronous conversion process, enabling after-hours migrations and minimising disruption to business operations. This approach drastically reduced the projected rollout time, setting a new standard for DDBook Cloud implementations.

Challenge

Chemist Warehouse needed to migrate 500+ stores to DDBook Cloud as quickly as possible. Traditional migration methods would have resulted in a significantly longer implementation timeline, potentially impacting business operations and delaying the benefits of the cloud platform. A key challenge was minimising downtime during the cutover process, as standard procedures typically required a one-hour service interruption per store.

Solution

The Support and Customer Success teams devised a novel asynchronous conversion process, a departure from standard DDBook Cloud deployment procedures. This innovative approach enabled after-hours conversions, eliminating the need for downtime during business hours. This "out-of-the-box" thinking, creating a service offering not previously available from Modeus, proved crucial to the project's success.

The developed process allowed for a seamless cutover without any business hour disruption or downtime, a significant improvement over standard migration procedures. This was achieved through meticulous planning and execution, ensuring each store's data was migrated and the DDBook Cloud platform activated during non-operational hours.

Results

The tailored solution enabled a projected turnaround time of just 12 weeks (approximately), a dramatic improvement over the estimated 36 weeks required by traditional methods. This represents a 3x increase in rollout speed.

Current Status: The project is currently underway and on track for completion within the 12-week timeframe.
